Too Early To Be Booking For Summer? Nope! Jump On This!
If you follow our Instagram account, you might recall that I took the fam to Elkhorn Resort at Riding Mountain National Park last summer. It was our first time there and we had heard great things about the property.
Well, it was an awesome decision and we made memories there that will last a lifetime, it was a fantastic week for all four of us because there is literally something, for everyone in the family to do!
Elkhorn is right on the border of Riding Mountain National Park, close enough to all the action of Wasagaming, but far enough that it feels like you really are a world away.
We rented a chalet which was fantastic, featuring: two queen size beds, one sofa bed, one bathroom, fireplace, patio and BBQ. We had everything we could possibly need and if you have little ones, you know that having a full kitchen and ACCESS TO FULL LAUNDRY PEOPLE is so helpful!
We spent a ton of time at the beautiful pool. All four of us had a blast, literally hours of fun on the waterslide, the in pool lily pad walk and stunning outdoor hot tub! I remember spending a FULL day here and laughing so much and feeling so relaxed and then being able to walk a few minutes back to our chalet where we collapsed into the comfy sitting area and watched a movie and made dinner together. Such a dream!
One morning we went on a family hike on the property, the boys just had a blast. We enjoyed the fresh air and exploring the beautiful forest as they collected cool sticks, rocks and watched for animals and birds.
One night we decided not to cook and headed to the on site Buffalo Bar and 10 Restaurant at Elkhorn - they were the kindest to our kiddos and we enjoyed our meals. Don’t even get me started on the short rib poutine!
Ok, after all this, do what I did and have hubby mind the kiddos and indulge in a little bit of R&R all alone, at their ON SITE SPA! Yup. The Solstice Spa is so fantastic and features a mineral pool. They offer massage, facials, reflexology or do what I did and indulge in the full body scrub under a Vichy shower. So good.
Why is Amber telling us about her summer adventures in the deep freeze of January, you might ask? Well, I must share because one thing I also discovered last Spring when I first contacted them about availability, they were almost FULLY BOOKED! This place really isn’t such a secret I guess. If you know, YOU KNOW. So, I am sharing this experience so that if you are looking for a getaway not too far from home, and one the kiddos will love, you might be able to snag a room or chalet at Elkhorn. FInd them at elkhornresort.mb.ca for info!
Next on our list is an Elkhorn winter getaway because honestly, it’s crazy how much they offer in the colder months and I can only imagine what a dream it would be to sit around a bonfire after a day of skating or tobogganing and roasting some marshmallows and then retreating back to your room for an amazing sleep in front of the fireplace!
